Habitat commissioned LShift to produce technical infrastructure to support their global websites.
LShift is responsible for creating and managing the core systems that support the retail website and also for consultancy and development of back-office systems that manage the core business data such as stock and image archives.
Working closely with a team of designers from Digit London, LShift created a Content Management System (CMS) that manages the multimedia content on the website via an XML protocol to exchange content between fl ash movies and various source databases.
The bespoke CMS allows an editorial team, spread across Europe, to contribute to the site and manage local translations to ensure that the site remains permanently up-to-date.

The Habitat site is becoming an ever more central part of their customer service offering and now showcases the interactive shopping experience for which Habitat has become renowned. The site has been awarded many awards, including the Grand Prix BIMA 2002 and the Best Interface Design, Interactive Entertainment BAFTA 2002 awards.
