Dorling Kindersley was working with Poke London to develop their idea for putting their popular Eyewitness Travel books online. LShift were asked to work with Poke London to turn their concepts into a website.
LShift took responsibility for coordinating the development effort and launching the site before the deadline.
The site was to allow a user to build their own travel guide using content provided on the site itself as well as incorporating content added by themselves and other users. They user should then be able to download their guide for printing as a PDF, or have it printed and delivered directly.
The website, launched in February 2007, contains the content from the Eyewitness Travel books and invites contributions from visitors. Visitors can compile their own guides, similar to the published books, which can then be shared with others on the site, downloaded or delivered printed and bound.
Having built the site alongside design partners Poke, LShift also manage the site platform and incorporate ongoing updates to the site content and functionality.
The website launched in February 2007, and went on to win a Travel Mole award that year as well as being highly commended at the BIMA awards.
